Step 1
Initial consultation and site visit
Darrel will meet with you to discuss your renovation ideas, offer expert advice and answer any questions you may have about renovating your home. He will provide a realistic completion timeframe, suggest start dates, and step you through the process.
Step 2
Detailed quote within 48hrs
Within two days, you’ll receive a competitive, itemised quote outlining all project costs. If you need assistance sourcing fittings and finishes, we’ll provide options for your selection. Please note: for larger projects, planning and consent may be required – which we can happily manage for you – which could extend timelines depending on the project’s size and complexity.
Step 3
Confirmation and pre-construction planning
When you’re ready to move forward with your renovation, Darrel will provide a start date and request the agreed-upon deposit. At this stage, we’ll also work with you to finalise decisions on fixtures, fittings, colours, and materials. Additionally, we’ll help you plan for any disruptions during the renovation, such as arranging portable cookers for kitchen upgrades or temporary toilet facilities for bathroom renovations.
Step 4
Project logistics
After receiving your deposit, Darrel will confirm the start date and go over the logistics, including property access, health and safety measures, and the arrival of necessary equipment like skip bins. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet our friendly team of home renovation experts.
Step 5
Regular communication
Throughout the renovation, you can expect weekly updates from Darrel via phone and site visits. If you have any questions or concerns at any stage of the project, contact Darrel. The specialist team at NZ Renovation Company is flexible and open to making changes throughout the project, and will revise the original quote if necessary.
Step 6
Final inspection and completion
Once your home renovation is complete, it’s time for the all-important final inspection and quality check. This is your opportunity to walk through the renovation or extension with Darrel, discuss any concerns, and request any touch-ups. Only when you are 100% satisfied will you receive the final invoice.

Additional considerations for your home renovation project
- For bathroom and kitchen renovations, your facilities will be unavailable for a period of time. You may need to arrange alternative solutions, such as hiring a portable toilet, shower, or temporary kitchen setup. Darrel will discuss these options with you to ensure minimal disruption to your daily routine.
- To allow our team to work efficiently and safely, the work area will need to be cleared before the project begins. Consider where you can move your furniture and possessions in advance to ensure a smooth start.
- Renovation work can be noisy and disruptive, especially if you’re working from home or have young children or pets. Planning alternative workspaces or making arrangements for pets during particularly loud phases of the project may help minimize inconvenience.
- For more extensive renovations, progress payments may be an option. Darrel can discuss the best approach for your budget and project scope.
